The
Humane Society of Broward County (HSBC) continues to provide the
highest number of adoptions in the Southeast United States . The
numbers are in...for fiscal year 2005-2006, we adopted out over
9,500 animals to Broward County residents and the surrounding areas.
A remarkable number indeed; however, we'll have thousands more come
into our Shelter this year who will also need help -- food, shelter,
vaccinations, toys, love, and most importantly, they will need us
to find them a new loving home. With your support raising money
for the 2008 Walk for the Animals, you
will enable us to help the animals in our care. Think about what
you spend on your pet(s) in a year on food, vet visits, toys, etc.
and then think about what it might cost us to shelter, feed, vaccinate,
spay/neuter, etc. the hundreds of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens
that are in our care each and every day. This is why your help is
so vitally important. Thank you for helping us do what we do!
Facts about the Walk for the Animals
- Since its inception
in 1990, the Walk has grown in popularity. More than 4,000 walkers
in 2007 helped raise over $540,000 (another recording breaking
year!)
- The Walk is
the Humane Society of Broward County's largest annual fund raising
event
- All of the proceeds
from the Walk benefit the animals in our care
- Forming a "Pack"
(a team of walkers) is a fun way for organizations, corporations,
families and friends to come together for an important cause
- Walkers can
earn Goodies - the more money raised, the more goodies one can
earn.
- With an annual
budget of nearly $5.5 million, the HSBC expects to find homes
for over 10,000 animals this year. This is 10 times more
adoptions with less money when compared to similar leading animal
welfare organizations!
- The Humane Society
of Broward County receives no government funding from national
organizations. We are funded 100% by private donations and through
special fundraising events such as the Walk for the Animals.

the animals count on you for help?
