In an effort to tackle the problem in our community the Humane Society of Broward County is now offering FREE spaying and neutering for pit bulls 8 weeks to 5 years of age.

Here are the simple facts as to why you should have your pets spayed or neutered:
1. An un-neutered male dog can detect an un-spayed female dog in heat for up to 3 ½ miles. As a result more than 80% of dogs hit by cars are un-neutered males. Neutering pets makes them less likely to roam.
2. Altering your pet greatly reduces or eliminates the desire for them to spray or mark their territory.
3. A dog that is neutered is less likely to fight with other animals for a mate or territory.
4. You’ll greatly reduce the chance of testicular and ovarian cancer if your pets are altered at an early age.
5. Unsterilized animals often exhibit more behavior and temperament problems than do those who have been spayed or neutered. Spaying and neutering can make pets less likely to bite.
6. Spaying and neutering helps dogs and cats live longer, healthier lives. Don’t you want your pet to live as long as possible?
