| If you have lost your pet, act immediately. Don’t wait a few hours or days and expect your dog or cat to return on their own. Check your neighborhood thoroughly. Whistling, calling, walking and driving are still the best first steps to finding a lost pet. Notify your neighbors, neighborhood kids and postal worker, leaving a description of your pet with as many people as you can. The more people watching out for your pet, the better. Put up brightly colored flyers and be sure to contact local vet offices. You should also visit the following locations, fill out a lost report, supply a photo if possible and walk through the shelters’ kennels. You should plan on visiting the shelters every other day. Only you know for sure what your pet looks like. Don’t rely on the shelters’ description of an animal. What is brown to one person may be red to another.
