Here’s a cool list of Service Projects kids can do to help the homeless
animals at the Humane Society of Broward County.

1. TOWEL DRIVE:
We need towels for pet bedding and for our doggies after their baths!

2. SHOEBOX DRIVE:
Our kitties love to curl up and make a bed out of a simple shoebox! For an extra special drive ask everybody to decorate their box and write message on it to help the kitties get adopted.

3. WISHLIST DRIVE:
Call for our wishlist or download it off our website at and collect a variety of items.

4. PENNY DRIVE:
Every penny adds up! Sell paper bones for a penny and watch as they add up to big bucks for the Humane Society. *Please be sure pennies are rolled before turning them in.

5. MAKE AN ANIMAL ADOPTION BOARD:
Print adoptable animals off of our website at www.humanebroward.com and make a poster board to display at your school advertising dogs and cats in need of homes.

6. A LEMONADE STAND:
Believe it or not two little girls last year raised thousands of dollars after the newspaper heard about their lemonade stand to help the homeless animals…so start squeezing those lemons!

7. A BAKESALE STAND:
Make human treats and pet treats, package them in cute baggies and sell them at the Humane Society or at school. Check out our website for our favorite dog cookie recipe!

8. A PENCIL STAND:
Buy a large quantity of paw print pencils or animal pencils and double the price! Now you’ve helped twice as many animals!

9. WRITE A LETTER TO THE GOVERNOR:
This year in Florida the Humane Society of Broward County is trying to pass a state law to prohibit the cruel chaining of dogs for long periods of time. Check out our sample letter on our website or write your own. Send it to Charlie.crist@myflorida.com or rich.nan.web@flsenate.gov.

10. KITTY TUBE:
Get an empty toilet paper roll or cut a paper towel roll in half. Decorate a half sheet of paper with paw prints, animals, hearts or whatever you’d like. Wrap it around the roll, tape it and cut fringe at the ends. The kitties love to bat them around their cages!
