What your Adoption Fee covers
Each animal left at the Humane Society is given state-of-the-art preventive care. Cats and kittens are vaccinated with a booster vaccine that protects them from harmful viruses. They are also given a treatment that protects them against heartworm disease (yes! cats can get heartworm disease), roundworms, hookworms, fleas and ear mites. All cats and kittens adopted from the Humane Society are negative for the feline leukemia virus and have had a fecal test done on their stool to check for parasites (they are sent home with de-wormers if the stool is positive for parasites). Every cat and kitten is spayed or neutered and microchipped prior to leaving the shelter. Our surgery protocol includes inhalant anesthesia and pain medication.

vaccine that protects them from harmful viruses such as parvovirus
and distemper virus. They are also given a vaccine against bordetella,
which causes kennel cough. They are given a treatment, protecting
them from heartworm disease, fleas, ticks, sarcoptic mange and ear
mites. If the dogs are over seven months of age they are tested for
heartworm disease; if they test positive, the new owner agrees to
bring them back for treatment at the Humane Society. Their stool is
checked for parasites and they are given a de-wormer and, if necessary,
sent home with de-wormers. Every dog and puppy is spayed or neutered
